Company of heroes 2 free weekend9/15/2023 ![]() Reminds me of Men of War: Assault Squad, but with a superior matchmaking system (and MP options), and streamlined gameplay.Ĭlick to expand. You're right! WWII bores me to tears these days. But I have to say that I am finding it to be a lot of fun. So, yeah, the game definitely got off on a very bad foot. I cringe every time I hear one of my squad leaders saying something idiotic like "what are you, a bunch of Really, Relic? Are you a bunch of 15 year olds? I really wish I could turn that crap off. ![]() 5) Vulgarity: I really don't know what Relic was thinking. Yes, it can look quite nice at times (see my screenshots), but this is another example of a dev pushing pixels way beyond what is necessary just because they can. The UI is still not that great, but Relic has rolled out a constant stream of patches and now the game seems pretty solid to me. Imagine paying full price for a game and then getting hit with tons of DLC that added up to the price of the game?!? 4) The game was very buggy (another 2013 launch fiasco by all accounts), as well as being saddled with a bad UI. This last point is now moot because you can get the Deluxe Bundle for $27 which includes all DLC, but at the time I can understand the rage. Relic went all EA on their fans by charging for a ton of DLC that really is pretty important to the gameplay (commanders that have special skills). ![]() I usually skip SP campaigns, especially in RTS games (I prefer the skirmish gameplay), but I think I am going to have to play it just to see what all the backlash was about. 2) A SP campaign that I hear portrays both sides (Russia + Germany) in a very negative light. Click to expand.Yeah, the initial reviews were brutal! After reading a bunch of them, it seems to have come down to a bunch of factors: 1) Nostalgia: the original CoH was a masterpiece, so naturally this sequel would never live up to the nostaliga-based hype.
